What are the Top Solar Energy Pros and Cons

As with many things in today's world there are pros & Cons and Solar energy is no exception. Providing power to the general population in an environmentally safe way is the goal in today's world, so how does solar energy stack up and what are the pro and cons of harnessing the power of the sun.

The pros for solar energy:

It is less costly than the normal means of generating energy. The sun powers solar energy, which is a natural resource. It’s a more environmentally friendly way to power the area’s population. No burning fuel to worry about ruining the earth’s atmosphere.

The costs are much less as most of the investment into the solar energy system is spent on the set up. As for running electricity off of the sun’s solar power, there is no charge for that. Sun’s power is free.

If a solar power system is suitable for your area, it could essentially do away with the annoying electric bills that come every month. The bill goes up quite a bit every time you use more energy to run your household.

It has no fuel that it needs to burn so it would be friendly to the atmosphere as well as not be affected when the price of gasoline goes up due to the shortages of fuel resources. When there is a shortage, everything is affected, but in this case solar energy wouldn’t have any adverse effects of it at all.

You would still enjoy a constant flow of energy to run your household on. You would still have energy resources to draw from even when the neighbors using electricity experiences power outages. You wouldn’t have to worry about the adverse effects of the outages that the electricity imposes.

Solar energy can be supplied to many remote areas that receive a lot of the sun’s rays. Mountain cabins would be a good option for using solar energy, as electrical utilities would have to figure out a way to get the wires and poles up to you. Solar power systems wouldn’t need that extra equipment to have to worry about.

The solar energy is a low maintenance system that saves you money from having to re wire a room or a whole house in order to update to codes. All that would be needed for any updating you would want to do is just to install a few more solar panels.

The cons of using Solar Energy:

The first one is the cost of setting this system up. They can be costly to have installed in your home but you do have to remember that that is virtually the only cost you need to worry about. A large area would be needed to install this system so that you could effectively store the energy to run off of.

Of course since its run by the power of the sun, you would need to be in an area where sun is available for you to store the energy from. If there weren’t sufficient sunlight to draw from, solar energy systems wouldn’t work well for you.

The sun’s energy can only be drawn from during the day and not at night time as there is no sun then. If it’s a cloudy overcast day, drawing energy from the sun would be difficult as well. So, in order to be sure you continue to receive constant energy flow from your solar energy system, you would have to purchase a backup battery to use in those cases.

Solar power would be an efficient way to provide energy to the needed resources, but it isn’t exactly known for its speed as far as vehicles go. They would tend to run much slower than the gas powered ones and in today’s world where everyone’s in a hurry, these kinds of cars wouldn’t sell very well.

As you can see Solar energy has more advantages than it does disadvantages. These disadvantages could be worked out efficiently when testing and new developments produce new ways to approach the problems.
