Each year thousands of people install solar charging systems on their RVs. Why? An RV solar power system can put an end to battery worries, allowing you to dry camp without giving up the luxury of electricity. From simple battery maintenance to full-time live aboard power, Solar RV Kits come in a range of sizes and can be installed on RVs, campers, trailers, 5th wheels and motor homes.
The selection of a power system starts with a look at your current power needs and the type of camping you enjoy (i.e. weekend, extended or fulltime). If your power demands increase for any reason, solar systems are easily expanded.

You can use solar power to charge the batteries by using Solar Chargers. This work in the normal way a charger does, but instead of drawing power from the mains, the power is generated using the power of the sun from solar cells.
Solar powered battery chargers can be used in the home to charge the rechargeable batteries you might use in your walkman, such as AA or AAA batteries, or many will now come with connectors for your iPod or mobile phone. Larger systems can be used to top up the power to your car battery through the cigarette lighter, the batteries in your RV or on your boat. The chargers are normally a device which incorporates a solar panel and various connections, you will also find the battery chargers ideal for laptop computers, notebook computers, CD/DVD players, digital cameras.
The charger works by creating electricity using a photovoltaic cell, that is then used to charge the batteries. Naturally if you are wanting to charge the batteries in your RV or boat you will require a larger system than what is used to charge the batteries used in your walkman.
I have used a small solar charger will travelling and have found it to be a very handy bit of kit for topping up my mobile phone or ipod while I am away from a reliable source of power.
