Create electricity from the wind using a wind turbine

Today many homes, businesses and small communities are turning to the power of the wind for their power needs. A wind turbine can harness wind power and turn it into electricity for you.

Wind turbines usually have a rotor and a generator at the top of a tower. The wind rotates the rotor that in turn generates the electricity through the turbine. Smaller turbines are kept pointing into the wind by the use of a wind vane. Larger systems will have wind sensors and a motor to turn the blades into the wind.
